Formerly Adonix X3, Sage ERP X3 version 5 is the fifth major version of this
enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package for mid-sized enterprises.
It is being released in 2008 by the Sage Group in 35 countries. The system is
represented in the US by Adonix, a Sage company since 2005, dedicated to the
North American ERP mid-market. Sage ERP X3 is also distributed throughout
Europe, Asia, and Africa, either with a direct presence or via Sage’s
value-added reseller (VAR) channel.
Sage ERP X3 provides midsized businesses with integrated functionality for
accounting and financial management, purchasing, inventory, sales, customer
relationship management (CRM), and manufacturing. It offers both standard
management features and process customization capabilities. The result is a
range of configured offerings, covering the standard requirements of user
industries, as well as being adaptable to specific organizations:
- Sage ERP X3 Discrete Suite addresses the needs of midsized discrete
manufacturers in industrial and consumer goods, medical devices, paper, and
other hard goods industries.
- Sage ERP X3 Process Suite focuses on the
unique and specialized requirements of midsized process manufacturers in food
and beverage, chemicals, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and related
industries.
- Sage ERP X3 Distribution Suite is designed to meet the demands
of wholesale distributors and the distribution arms of manufacturers.
Sage ERP X3 is built on the Sage Application Framework for the Enterprise X3
technology (SAFE X3), the common development platform shared by a full set of
Sage applications for mid-to-large enterprises. Featuring multitier
service-oriented architecture (SOA)/Web-native design, the SAFE X3 platform also
provides users with collaboration capabilities (Web services, second-generation
workflow engine, etc.) and business intelligence (BI) tools.
